Early Decision Applicants - Tuesday, November 17
Today we will be contacting early decision applicants (by e-mail and letter) who are missing application materials and we will give you time to submit the missing materials. We will also bring up the online application status system so that you can track your application materials. Please log on to your application status account and carefully review your check list. Please note that if you took the November SAT exam, the test results from the College Board will arrive on, or around, November 24th. If you sent them to us, we will automatically add them to your file (they should appear on your check list by December 1st). There is no need to contact us if you have already made arrangements with the College Board to send your scores to us from the November SAT exam.
Update for Cornell Applicants
Regular Decision Applicants: We are processing your materials as quickly as possible. When we bring up the online application status system next week, you will be able to start tracking our receipt of your materials. Keep in mind that we receive hundreds of thousands of documents during this busy time and that it can take up to a couple of weeks for materials to post to your online application status account. We ask for your patience as we work to process your materials.
Spring Transfer Applicants: Decisions for spring transfer applicants are now being released on a rolling basis. Please note that decisions for spring transfer applicants are not posted online. Decisions will be mailed to students by paper letter.
Application Fee
If you are applying online, you will need to pay the $70 application fee by credit card, debit card, or electronic check. Log into the Common Application web site and click on the Checklist tab, then select the Online Payment link for Cornell University.
To apply for a fee waiver, please send us one of the following documents:
- a letter from your guidance counselor/college advisor, or representative from a social service or community agency, stating that the fee would cause a financial hardship;
- the NACAC fee waiver request form completed by your guidance counselor/college advisor;
- or the College Board Request for Waiver of College Application Fee form (obtainable from your guidance counselor/college advisor if you used SAT Reasoning Test or Subject Tests fee waivers).
In order to complete your application, you must fulfill the application fee requirement by sending one of the above documents or by paying the $70 fee online or by check. Fee waiver documents or payment by check should be mailed to: Undergraduate Admissions Office, Cornell University, P.O. Box 516, Ithaca, NY 14851-0516.
Standardized Testing Submission Deadlines
If you are applying under the Early Decision plan, the October test date is the latest recommended test date from which we will accept test scores. Applicants are welcome to submit test scores from the November test date, but we cannot guarantee that we will receive the scores before making a decision. For regular decision, we recommend that you take tests by December. Applicants are welcome to submit scores from the January test date, but again, we cannot guarantee that we will receive the scores before making a decision.
We receive test results electronically, so using the “rush” service will not speed up the delivery of your scores at all. Using the “rush” service is only beneficial when the deadline is less than 4-6 weeks away, and you have not yet indicated you would like your scores sent to Cornell.
Standardized testing requirements at Cornell vary among our seven undergraduate colleges and schools. View standardized testing requirements. Please note: Cornell does not participate in the College Board’s Score Choice. If you are submitting the SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests, please plan on sending all scores.
Message to International Applicants: Declaration of Finances
At this time of year, we receive many e-mail messages and telephone calls from international applicants to determine whether or not Cornell University requires a statement, declaration, or certification of finances as part of the application. Although some colleges and universities require this information from applicants, Cornell University does not require this information at this stage in the application process. If you are admitted to Cornell University, we will then request this information from you. Please do not send this information with your application.
