International Students: Other Resources
There's a lot to learn about Cornell and the large and diverse international community on campus! We hope you'll use the following resources to further investigate the university.
International Students and Scholars Office
The International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) is the campus center for international students here. ISSO can advise you about immigration issues; financial planning; campus services for academic and personal counseling; medical care; housing; and even hints on dressing for Ithaca's winter weather. The office plans an international student orientation (called "PREPARE") at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters that includes many social events to help you meet other international students and make a smooth transition to the Cornell community. In addition, each year ISSO organizes trips for international students to places like New York City, Boston, Montreal, and Washington, D.C.
ISSO is also involved with many on-campus international programs. For example, you might enjoy getting to know other students, faculty, and staff at the International Coffee Hour, held in the Big Red Barn every week during the academic year. Relax after class, talk, and snack on cookies, coffee, and tea while you listen to music from around the world. You may want to join one of the many international student organizations on campus, but you will also be encouraged to participate in the wide range of extracurricular activities at Cornell---musical ensembles, sports teams, political action groups, and any of the more than 800 clubs and organizations open to you at the university.
