Multicultural Students at Cornell University
Cornell's students have only one common denominator: intellectual curiosity. Beyond that, we celebrate differences and remain committed to the egalitarian vision of our founder, Ezra Cornell, who established "an institution where any person can find instruction in any study."
Currently, nearly one-third (30 percent) of our undergraduates are African American, Asian American, Latino, and Native American students, or from multi-racial backgrounds. International students from some 120 countries make up another 9 percent of the total student population.
Included in the more than 800 clubs and organizations open to all Cornell students are hundreds sponsored by the African American, Asian American, Latino, Native American, and international student communities on campus. In addition, Cornell's Office of Minority Educational Affairs provides counseling, campuswide advocacy, leadership training, a prefreshman summer program, work-study and internship referrals, and more.
